Is it just me, or is buying Zoysia grass seed some kind of secret society? Every spring I end up deep in a rabbit hole of articles that make it sound like growing Zoysia from seed is basically witchcraft. “Slow to germinate,” “needs TLC,” “might not come up for months”-am I adopting a toddler or just trying to have a halfway decent lawn?
If anyone here has managed to actually grow Zoysia from seed and didn’t turn completely gray waiting for anything green to appear, did you use an incantation or just whisper sweet nothings to your soil every night? Also: are we sure sprigs and plugs aren’t just an elaborate practical joke by the lawn care industry to keep us buying “special” tools?
Share your secrets, or at least your best conspiracy theories-the patchy brown-and-green situation outside is starting to attract urban wildlife and I just know the neighbors are talking.
