So I keep seeing living wall planters (those modular vertical units for indoor plants) all over Instagram and design blogs—looks cool, but I’m wondering how practical they actually are? I’m skeptical for a few reasons and would love to hear real experiences.
My concerns:
- Watering—How do you water these without soaking your floors/walls or getting mold?
- Plant Selection—Do most houseplants actually thrive in vertical setups, or do people plant whatever looks good even if it struggles long-term?
- Maintenance—Is it a pain replacing dead plants or cleaning behind the setup?
- Light—How do you get enough light on the lower sections if it’s not by a huge window?
- Overall—Is it really healthier for the plants, or just a short-lived design trend?
If anyone’s had one for more than a year, does it still look good? Or is it Instagram vs. reality? Would love honest thoughts (successes and regrets).
